• Taking first prize for the Daily Star Best Vintage and Restored Commercial Vehicle for the fourth year running was Wimblington, Cambsbased Knowles Transport, with its 1959 6x2 ERF. The .£200 prize was collected by fitter David Butwright. Cohn Pattinson was runner up with his 1941 Lion Ales Comrner Q4; David Higgs took third place for Milton Keynes-based L G Holton with a 1936 ERF C15.

• The .£600 first prize for Swedish Truck Parts' Custom Truck of the Year was scooped by John Finney, who came to the podium with his 11-week-old daughter, Holly. John Phillips' A-reg Scania came second and owner-driver Graham Cordiner picked up his 60th prize for a 1989 Scania 143.470.

• Fina sponsored the Continental Truck of the Year award, which went to Craig Potter's G-reg Scania 143. Peter Knight from PJ Haulage of Reading came second with his Freg Volvo F10; in third place was Colin Veitch with his K-reg Scania 143. • Owner-driver Mark Whitehouse of Kidderminster won first prize in the Perkins Best New K-reg Truck class with his Scania 143.450. Paul Collis of Westfield Transport came second and Adrian Austin of RT Keedwell of Highbridge, Somerset came third with his Seddon Atkinson limited edition Silver Knight.

• Graham Cordiner's efforts were rewarded with first prize for Best Kept Owner Driver Vehicle (sponsored by Mer), ahead of the Volvo F12 entered by John Anderson of Andersons Bulk Haulage. in third place was John Phillips of Hartlebury, Worcs-based JM Phillips Transport with a 1992 Scania 143.

• Dave Crowson's G-reg Scania G93 was voted Best Kept Rigid (sponsored by Armor All); owner-driver Mick Bonney came second with his Daf 2300. Timber-building haulier James Neaverson repeated last year's third place with his D-reg Mercedes Benz 1114. Packaging won Dieseline's Best Kept Fleet with a Volvo and five Scanias. Andersons Bulk Haulage were in the awards again, taking second place with three Volvo Ms and two Volvo F12s. PG & MK Transport was third, with a Volvo F16 Globetrotter, a Mercedes 814 and a Volvo FL10.

• Best Company Owned Vehicle (sponsored by Roadphone Communications) was won by David Gill with his G-reg ERF; he won an in-cab video player. Brian Newbury of

liottot Transport came (}nd with his Scania 112; third place went to Mark Bunker's Volvo Globetrotter, owned by general haulier DE Shipp of Mildenhall, Suffolk. Bunker's daughter Libbie, who joined her dad on the rostrum, even has her initials included in the Volvo's plates—j8 LJB.

• G-reg vehicles swept the board in the most prestigious cOmpetition of them all; Commie rc ia I Motor's Britain's Best Kept Working Truck. Dave Crowson came first folloived by David Gill in second Wale with the 6x2 E Series ERF he uses for bulk grain and concrete block haulage from Huntingdon, Cambs. Third pace was yet another trophy for Graham Gardiner.

• The le huttle international Super fTruck Challenge was won ly Jan Tibble who drives her Peterbilt for promotions company Stack Attack. She collected ha prize from John Chapman of Eurotunnel. Matt Karlman of Sweden took second place with a Scania 470; Jarnie Wall of Walls Truck Services came third with his Freightliner, Black Beauty.
