THE five millionth diesel engine produced by Mercedes-Benz since the war has gone on display at the Hanover Trade Fair.
This was the proud statement made by Prof H. Scherenberg, head of research and development of Daimler-Benz at the recent unveiling of the new light van range.
Commercial vehicles constitute a significant proportion of the company's sales which was emphasised by Prof Scherenberg who quoted a figure of 52 per cent of sales.
World wide during 1976, Daimler-Benz produced almost a quarter of a million commercial vehicles — eight • per cent more than in the previous year.
