JOHN Horxtras, for many years secretary of the North-Western Area of Associated Road Operators, Liverpool, and, subsequently, secretary of No. 2 Area, North-Western (Western) Road Haulage Association, wasentertained at a complimentary luncheon given by members of the transport industry at Liverpool on May 29. MR, T. LAwaRNsom made a presentation on behalf of the hauliers of the area. MR. GERALD NOWELL. a director and general' manager of South Midland Motor Services, Ltd., has been elected an Associate Member of the Institute of Transport LORD ASFIFIELD, P.C., has been reappointed chairman, and MR. GEOFFREY HEYWORTFI a part-time member, of the London Passenger Transport Board. Lord Aslifield has been chairman since 1933.
MR. GEORGE WANSBROUGH, a director of the Bank of England and of several industrial companies, has been elected chairman of Jowett Cars, Ltd. MR. W. j. SAINSBURY has also joined the board. MR. C. CLORE, MR. L. SANER and MR. J. C. G WEGERIF have disposed of their interests in the company and have resigned from the board.
MR. A. R. CADMAN, formerly chief clerical officer of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., and MR. P. Tatallott, previously the B.M.M.O. divisional traffic superintendent for the Black Country, have received presentations to mark their retirement. Mr. Cadman had nearly 48 years' service and Mr. Treanor 44 years. MR. D. M. StracLAtit, .general manager of the company, *sided at the presentation ceremony.
