Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ASSIGNMENTS of lorries bought from British Road Services are reported from nine areas this week. Yorkshire bas the distinction of recording the greatest number of transfers out of the districts covered.

SCOTLAND Nine articulated outfits (14:Y4 tons). seven of them based in Dundee and the others in Aberdeen, have been acquired by Wescol (Bradford). Ltd.. County Garage. Trinity lane. Ripon.

Highland Haulage, Ltd., Inverness, have taken over from Sumerlands ot Peterhead (Road Hauliers). Ltd.. nine lorries (31 tons) based in Edinburgh.

Transfers have also been made by Messrs. W. C. and G. Halliday, Palnackie, Dalbeattie, of a lorry (71/2 tons) to Blue Line Transport (Prestwick), Ltd., 42 Monkton Road, Prestwick: Messrs. S. and V. Levitt Transport, address not known. one (31/2 tons) to Mr. William Thornton. Banknock; and Moores Motors (Ayr), Ltd., Ayr, an articulated outfit 12% tons) to Messrs. William Cowan and Sons, Falkirk.

A further special A licence, this time for a lorry (2('2 tons), has been granted by the Scottish Licensing Authority to Mr. Ernest Sanderson, Glasgow.

NORTHERN AREA Silt lorries (41 tons 19 cwt.) have been assigned to Cawthorn and Sinclair, Ltd.. Durham Road, Braley, by Cockburn and Gunn. Ltd.. King Edward Wharf, Pipewellgate, Gateshead.

Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Thornton Street North, Manchester. 9. have transferred a lorry (1% tons) to F. Birmingham, Ltd„ 26 Hill Heads Road. Whitley Bay.

Mr. E. Waters. 84 Sr. Mary's Avenue. Monkscaton, has transferred a lorry (2 tons 4 cwt.) to Mr. H. A. Tucr, Kcisky House, Etherley Lane, Bishop Auckland.

A lorry weighing 3 tons 7 cwt. has been made over by Cusick (Oldham), Ltd. Thornton Street North, Manchester, 9. to 1. W. Capataff. Ltd.. Eastern and Western Lodges. off Coach Lane, Little Benton. Newcastle upon Tyne.

NORTH-WEST Mr. L. Glea:c. Holly Bank. Audlem, near Crewe, has transferred a lorry (51/2 tons) to Messrs. G. Edwards and Son. 1 Deans Lane. Thelwall. near Warrington, and a trailer to Mr. H.I.Huyton, Dunriding Lane, St. Helens, Ulster Ferry Transport. Ltd., 72 Corporation Street. Belfast, have taken over two arriculatea outfits ((01/2 tons) from Jones Transport Services (Liverpool). Ltd.. 58 Regent Road, Liverpool. 20.

A trailer has been sold to Sutton and Son (St. Helens). Ltd., 449 Prescot Road, St. Helens, by Syd Abrams, Ltd., Newcastle.

YORKSHIRE Mr. 2. Warren. 2a Bennetthorpe, Doncaster, has bought and sold two lorries. One (7 tons 11 cwt.) came front Ackworth Transport Co., Ltd., Wakefield Road. Ackworth, and the other (3% tons) was made over to the same concern.

Ackworth Transport have also transferred a lorry (3 tons 7 cwt.) to A. Booth and Son, Ltd.. Fairfield House, Charlesiown, Ackworth.

Two vehicles (6 tons) have been transferred to Haley (Haulage), 1.td., 23 Cheapaide, Bradford, by Mr. C. B. Haley or the same address; two (6 tons 7 cwt.) to J. H. Wareham, 88 Beechwood Park Road, Solihull (2% tons) by Birmingham Commercial Motor and Bodyworks. Ltd., 560 Coventry Road, Small Heath, Birmingham; and Charles Walley (Jubilee Garage), Ltd., Moreton, Congleton (71/2 tons) by A. and H. Davey (Roadways), lad., Vernon Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

EAST MIDLANDS

Murphy Bros., Ltd., Feature Buildings. Melton Road, Thurmaston, Leicester, time made a direct purchase of two lorries (94 tons). They have also acquired vehicles from Rusheliffe 'Transport Co., Loughborough Road, Nottingham (one7 tons 12 cwt.), and Mr. A. G. B. Burney, Receiver and Manager of E. E. Bamford (Contractors), Ltd., Mansfield Road, Alfreton (two17 tons 7 cwt.), and have. in turn, re-sold them to Ilkeston Haulage CO., Ltd.. 27-31 Nottingham Road. Ilkeston. Murphy Bros. have transferred vehicles to W. S. Donaghy, Ltd., 40 Park Road. West Hartlepool, two (9 tons 3 cwt) r J. E. Foster and Co., 78 The Albany, Old Hall Street. Liverpool, 3. two (13 tons 4 cwt.); and Mr. N. Beech, Hope Street, Hanley, one (7 tons 3 cwt.).

Mr. Beech has, in turn, made over a knelt (5 tons) to Mr. H, Shaw, 28 Westfield Avenue, Marlpool, Manor. near Derby.

Hamblin's Suppliers. Ltd., 498 Melton Road. Leicester, have bought and sold three lorries. One articulated outfit (5 tons 16 cwt.) came from Murphy Bros. (Transport Division), Ltd.. 6-8 Selbourne Street, Loughborough. and two (I5 tons 19 cwt.) have gone to North Lincs. Haulage Co., Ltd., Elitabeth Street, Scunthorpe, Mr. 1. Brindley, The Close, Sharnford, Hinckley. has bought a lorry (5 tons 14 cwt.) from T. Hart and Sons, Ltd_ Woodhouse Garage. Biddulph, and transferred another (19 cwt.) to Frank Willis and Sons (Carriers), Ltd.. Westfield Garage, Hardwick Road, Wellingborough.

One vehicle (7 tons) taken over from Mr. I, B. Coleman (Midland Motors), Glen Road, Oadtry, Leicester. by Mr. M Regan. Chun Farm. Horranonden. has been re-assigned to J. R. Coleman (Haulage). Ltd., of the same address as Mr. Coleman.

EASTERN COUNTIES

More assignments are reported from this area. Mr. R. I. Ashling, 277 Eastficld Road, Peterborough, has transferred a lorry 15 tons) to Mr. A. Wakefield. Station Road. Warboys; one (5% tons) jo Mr. A. Murders. 53 Queen's Walk, Fletton; and an articulated vehicle (31; tons) to Mr. C. T. Harrison, The Bridge, Surged. The articulated vehicle, together with a trailer (1% tons) was originally held by Messrs. G. and

borough, has transferred two more lorries (Pa tons), taken over front Mr. M. Regan, Chun Earm, Horamonden, and an articulated outfit. The lorries have gone to Mr. E. A. Clark, Halton Holgate (one-25, tans). and Messrs. R. Baxter and Sons, The Mill, Eye Green (one-3 tons), the Yorkshire Electric Transformer Co.. Ltd.. Empire Works, Thornhill, Dewsbury, taking over the articulated °tofu (214 tons).

Vickers Transport Co. (Peterborough), lad.. 36 St. Lconards sum. Peterborough, have made over to Messrs. Brewin Bros., 91( Crowland Road, Eye, a lorry (31/2 tons) originally held by Mr. C. Proctor, 55 Stainforth Road, Newbury Park, Ilford. Vickers Transport have also sold a lorry (23 tons) to Messrs. Dabbs and Lenton. in the East Midland Traffic Area.

A lorry (31/2 tons) taken over from Mac's Garage (Westcliff-on-Sea). Ltd., 5 Deep Lane. Basingstoke, by Church Road Motors (Southend-on-Sea), Ltd., Church Road, Hatileigh, has now gone to Mr. 3. W. Hodgson, 26 London Road, South Stifford, Grays.

The Eastern Licensing Authority has also authorized the following assignment,: two vehicles (14 tons) to Mr. W. E. Ayes, 4 London Road, Sandy, by Mr. N. Beech. Hope Street. Lorries have been bought and sold by B. Smith (Haulage). Ltd.. 59 Weymouth Terrace, London, E.2. One lorry (3 tons 8 cwt.) and a trailer have been transferred by them to Mr. B. Smith, ol the same address, and one (3 tons 17 cwt.) ha.s been bought from A. Owen, Ltd.. 72-74 Park Hill. London, S.W.I. who originally acquired it from Mr. H. G. Jeakins, 1 Ufton Road. London, N.1.

Mr. A. 1, Maffea, 30 Southchurch Road. London. E.6, has made over two lorries. one (31/2 tons) going to T. S. Barnard, Ltd., Piazza Chambers. London, W.C.2, and the other (3 tons 14 cwt.) to Amoco Supplies Co., 640 High Road, London, E.11.

Amore Supplies have, in turn, assigned a lorry (3 tons 4 cwt.) to Mr. W. 3. Taylor. 5 Montague Road, London, E.7.
