A MAJOR topic at the RI-IA area secretaries' conference was the applications for licences for Freightliner traffic by British Railways in Manchester, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen.
It was agreed that area secretaries outside the Scottish and North-Western (Eastern) areas should be kept closely advised of developments so that they might be well prepared to deal with similar BR applications in their own areas.
Commentaries on the Manchester and Scottish hearings, highlighting the significant points, are being distributed to all areas.
