Multi-purpose Gas Torch

1,15 ECENTLY introduced by British

Industrial Gases,, Ltd., 700 Great Cambridge Road, Enfield, Middlesex, is a new torch which can be used to weld, cut, heat, flame-clean and rivet-wash. Named the Harris-designed Model 43, this universal pressure torch has many commendable features, and operates on high-, mediumand low-pressure fuel gas using acetylene, propane, butane, hydrogen or town gas.

The torch is said to be the first made in the United Kingdom that can gouge and rivet-wash with-oxy-acetylene or oxypropane. For heating, operators have a choice between acetylene, propane and hydrogen,, while welding and cutting can be carried out with highor low-pressure fuel gas, all on one master shaft.

A full set of nozzles is available and a wide range of flame settings is possible with each nozzle.

Tools for the Bodybuilder TWO new pieces of equipment which will be useful in a body-repair shop have been introduced by Pickavant and Co., Ltd., Bow Street, Birmingham. No. JVVP 319, is a useful tool for cleaning and reclaiming lambswool bonnets and pads by removing deposited paint. No. JWP 318 is a spot-weld removal set and is made up of two items. to carry out

the two separate operations required. It is claimed that a spot weld can be completely removed without panel distortion by cutting away the weld on the upper surface only. The tools are used with standard electric or air drills, and the cutters can be replaced.

Accessories Catalogue ANEW 56-page full-colour catalogue, issued by the Dunlop Rubber Co.. Ltd., provides, a comprehensive reference for all that company's commercialvehicle, car, motorcycle and cycle accessories and components. The catalogue is bound in a stiff cover, varnished for extra protection in handling, and copies can be obtained from all Dunlop depots.

Bucks, gives details of this concern's increased range of aluminium-alloy sections and fittings for commercial vehicle bodybuilding. In addition, a section is included giving details of assemblies of typical platform, drop-side, tipper and Luton bodies, and showing the use of these items.

Two New Oils 'TWO new oils have been introduced by 1 the makers of " 3-in-One " oil—E. R. Howard, Ltd., Ipswich. These are " 3-in-One " penetrating and easing oil and " 3-in-One " heavy duty oil. Both are priced at Is. 6d. per can. Improved Lubricating Oil ANEW blend of Silver Knight oil has been introduced by Matthews Oils, Ltd., West Bromwich, Staffordshire. Improvements claimed. over the previous standard grade include an increase in the viscocity index to give greater. engine protection and reduced wear under highspeed conditions; the inclusion of a special anti-sludge additive to resist oxidation and minimize sludge formation; and a special pour-point depressant to improve cold starting.

The price of the new oil, which is available in S.A.E. 20, 30, 40 and 50 grades, is 42s. 6d. per 5-gallon drum and 10s. 6d. per gallon can.

Heavy-duty Towpoles HEAVY-DUTY towpoles for use with fully-laden sixand eight-wheeled vehicles have been designed by Mann Egerton and Co., Ltd., 5 Prince of Wales Road, Norwich. Straight and cranked types are made, both intended for towing via the front axle; the cranked model for use where the body design will not allow the straight type to be used.

A universal adjustment bracket is provided to facilitate coupling to the axle, which, by giving a full range of towing angles, avoids the danger of eccentric loading.

Cleansing Fluid rtA NEW 8-oz. flask of Cleanslip has been introduced by the Slip Group of companies. The price of the new size is 6s. 3d. compared with 10s. 6d. for the 16-oz, flask, which is still marketed.

Cleanslip is said to be suitable for the cleaning. of leather, leather-cloth, PVC and synthetic material upholsteries.
