LEADING European authorities on electric vehicles are to visit Japan to gather information at first hand on the Japanese electric vehicle industry.
The tour is being co-ordinated by the Electric Vehicle Development Group in collaboration with Japan Electric Vehicle Association, detailed organisation is in the hands of TTI Ltd.
Technical visits have been arranged with a number of companies to examine the developments, manufacture and operation of a wide range of electric vehicles including vans, buses and cars in both pure electric and hybrid form. Members of the group will have an opportunity to discuss the infrastructure requirements for electric vehicles including materials and energy resources.
Particular attention will be given to the time-scale in which it is envisaged that cost-effective electric road transport can be introduced in Japan.
Manufacturers to be visited will include Nissan, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu, and the Mitsushita Electric Industrial Company.
