• Hauliers or drivers who allow diesel to leak from their fuel tanks could face fines of up to £2,000 from this month.
Construction and Use rules covering leakages caused by loose filler caps on trucks are being brought into line with those for petrol tanks.
The Department, of Transport says that diesel leaks from HGVs are a major hazard for motorcyclists and cyclists on Britain's roads.
