Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

in your excellent magazine, a recent edition of Commercial Motor contained a highly useful booklet on Truck Stops and Lorry Parks in the UK.

We did, however, come to grief in Bristol, where on the advice of your booklet I duly parked in Canons Marsh Lorry Park (listed as a 24-hour Lorry Park with toilets and washing facilities) to promptly receive a Fixed Penalty Ticket for our effrontery!

Having argued the toss with the relevant Authority, I now enclose a copy of a letter received from the city explaining the parking situation (or lack of it) in Bristol. (That letter is published on this page).

Perhaps you would like to amend your records accordingly!

Thought for the week — why aren't all towns obliged to make provision for lorries? It always annoys me considerably that these expanding and prosperous towns (and Truro is a classic example being the 'commercial and administrative centre of Cornwall') always treat lorries like mounting garbage — the result of their prosperity but to be got rid off as fast as possible. Either that or else, lorry parks are situated as far away from everywhere as possible making life as miserable as possible for their occupants.

All of which makes your list of Truck Stops even more welcome!

Nicholas J Harvey Truro, Cornwall
