It failed to mention the one safety feature which is of primary benefit to lorry operators, drivers and every road user in the event of that most common British weather phenomenon — rain.
Monsanto's Clear Pass spray suppression system is fitted to both the curtainsider and M&G tanker, as well as the prime mover. It is a safety feature which substantially reduces a hazard that is estimated to be a contributory factor in 7,000 road accidents a year.
For every motorist it provides safer overtaking conditions in wet weather. For the lorry driver it offers a reduction in mirror fouling, improved rear vision and reduced accident risk. And for the operator there is the opportunity to be seen as a responsible and safety conscious organisation.
Incidentally, practical experience over the last eight months in the UK has shown that Clear Pass has direct benefits for operators also. Reduced humidity levels lead to longer life for electrical wiring and other undercarriage components. And because the lorry stays cleaner longer and there is reduced mirror fouling, there is less stoppage time both on and off the road.
