• Under Section 177 of, the Act, the North Western LA, Mr. C. R. Hodgson, last week in Manchester removed all the vehicles from the A licence of F. Dugdale and Sons Ltd., Nelson, and refused an A variation application relative to that licence.

In the absence of the applicant company, Mr. J. S. Lawton pointed out on behalf of four objectors that a new one-vehicle B licence had been published in March as being granted

to P. R. Smith, of Burnley, subject to the surrender of the Dugdale licence which was therefore no longer in existence. If the variation application to delete the four specified vehicles and add four to be hired was refused, this would acknowledge the existence of a licence, he submitted.

"I shall refuse the whole thing and inform them that they do not have a licence any more," said Mr. Hodgson.
