'T'HE application by Ulster Ferry Trans." port, Ltd., for the transfer of five articulated outfits from, contract A to B licence (The Commercial Mobor, November 22), has been refused.

In a reserved decision, Mr. F. Williamson, North Western Licensing Authority, said no case was made out for the carriage of general goods from Northern Ireland to England-and Wales. For traffic in the opposite direction, he was satisfied only that there was likely to be some increase in goods carried for Bibby. He thought, however, that the carrying capacity freed by the absence of empty egg cartons to be returned to Northern Ireland would offset the increase.

THE WORD WAS "IRREGULAR" TN our November 1 issue, the report of I an. appeal by Mr. Winston Blamire against the Scottish Licensing Authority's refusal to grant him additions to his A licence, heard by the Transport Tribunal in Edinburgh, recorded that the appellant had "apparently been guilty of illegal operation." The summary of the judgment subsequently received uses the word "irregular," and not " The summary stated that the transfer of the five Preston-based vehicles to Ardrossan might have been wholly or partly irregular, but the Tribunal gave their opinion that the appellant should not be prejudiced in any future application to the Scottish Licensing Authority for any irregular operation that might have occurred between the end of March last and the time of the hearing.
