of the United States Department of Transportation, which prevents regulations imposing unnecessary costs on industry, consumers and Government, suggested an MP last week.
Dr John Gilbert, the Minister for Transport, replying to this suggestion from Mr Dudley Smith (Tory, Warwick and Leamington), said that in framing proposals for new regulations the Department considered the likely effect on industry and consumers as well as on the commurity at large.
The consultations that were held with interested parties were designed to bring out relevant information.
