Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Lincolnshire-based Spalding Haulage has been fined 16,500 with £2,000 costs for 38 tachograph offences. The company had changed its plea to guilty in Eltoes magistrates court on 27 March.

The BOC Group-owned company, which employs 100 drivers, faced charges including permitting drivers to fail to take weekly rests and failing to pro duce record sheets. No one at Spalding Haulage was available for comment.

The latest fine comes a month after 19 Spalding drivers were fined individually for tachograph offences.

The maximum possible fine is £2,500 per tacho offence, except in the case of falsification, when it is £5,000 at magistrates court,
