• Land Rover has launched a modified version of its Discovery 414 for paramedics. It has been developed by Land Rover's SVO department and features an increased wheelbase, from 2.54 to 2.95m (100 to 116in).
RAC Troopers
• The RAC has bought 17 diesel-powered Isuzu Troopers for evaluation as rescue and short-haul recovery vehicles.
Transit revamp
n Ford is to launch a new version of the Transit panel van on 10 October, incorporating major changes in suspension, brakes and chassis. A new engine line-up will include a 75kW (100hp) turbo-diesel: its "drive-by-wire" fuel rack control is the first to be fitted to any Ford model.
