Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hampshire-based bodybuilder Wadham Stringer has developed a full-width Vanguard II bus body for the Dennis Javelin coach chassis.

The 11.5m vehicle will go into service with Eastbourne Buses after the Coach & Bus '91 show, on semi urban services. It is fitted with 55 coach seats and, to cater for the centre-engine layout of the chassis, has a front ramped floor.

This is the first time that the Waterlooville-based firm has built a bus body on to the Javelin for stage carriage work. A Vanguard II body was fitted to a Javelin for Gatwick Parking Service as a shuttle coach earlier this year, and two others are in service with the Cornwall Disabled Association and Isle of Wight County Council,

Wadham Stringer's managing director Geoffrey Bailey pre dicts the vehicle will have "limited appeal". It is designed for long-distance bus journeys and operators could be attracted by its price, which could be as much as £15,000 below that of other up-market buses, says Bailey.

Wadham is also showing a Portsdown-bodied Dennis Dart with "a number of innovative ideas", says Bailey. A 37-seater will go to East Surrey Bus Company after the exhibition.
