Malvern's Dennis Engine at the Crystal Palace.

The latest-model Dennis fireengine, with 60 h.p. engine and turbine pumps, with a normal delivery capacity of 400 gallons per minute, fitted with a 40-gallon chemical tank, and also adapted to carry a 30 ft. sliding-carriage escape, is now in the hands of the Malvern brigade.

An enormous amount of interest was taken in this machine, at the

recent Fire Brigade Review, at the Crystal Palace, under the control of the N.F.13.11. The engine was christened the "Lady Grey," by King Manoel of Portugal. The "bottle" was arranged so as to fall against the pump on the King's cutting the cord by which it was suspended, and this he did, in happy fashion, with a special presentation knife, which bore an inscription suited to the event. Some 600 firemen, from all parts of the country, were reviewed by King Manoel on the same day, whilst he also presented the various challenge shields, cups, bowls and other pt.izes.

We may add that a duplicate of this Dennis engine is now in course of construction for the Oporto Brigade. At no time has the Guildford factory been more busily occupied in this branch.
