on roads in the period 1963-68 than was allocated for the five-year period 196267. This was revealed by the Minister of Transport when he opened the National Road Safety Congress in London on Tuesday. The total to be spent on roads in England and Wales is £590 million, compared with about £540 million in the 1962-67 allocation. Irt the year 1963-64 about £101 million will go into road works; for 1962-63 it was about ten million pounds less.
There will be no significant change in the proportion spent on motorway, trunk and other classified roads.
