A PICKFORDS Removals manager has been rewarded for his efforts in tackling three raiders at his premises.

Bob Cargill (left), manager of the company's Stirling branch received an award for meritorious service last week when National Freight Consortium chairman Peter Thompson attended a special ceremony.

Mr Cargill, who has been with the company for 17 years and Stirling manager for nine years, found three men stealing the contents of the company safe and tackled them single handed.

The chairman's award is made for acts involving conduct amounting to an acceptance of risk or responsibility above and beyond the call of duty. Mr Cargill's is the 23rd to be presented since the award started in 1976.
