It is hoped that the L. and N.W. Ry. will yield to local requests for a motorbus service. between Conway and Ilanwrst. via Trefriw, to which we last referred on the 21st ult. The route has been tested.

Brighton's Fleet.

The Brighton, Hove and Preston United Omnibus Co., Ltd., has obtained permission to run a motorcoach between Brighton and Worth

me. This company's fleet of publicservice motor omnibuses now comprises 21 petrol-driven vehicles, one fiallford-Stevens petrol-electric vehicle. 16 electric (accumulator) vehicles, and one Austrian-Daimler (LohnerPorsche system) petrol-driven vehi

cle. With one lorry, this gives a total of 40 machines, and the oldest dates back to 1903. The Effect of Competition.

Following the success of Tilling's motorbus service from Bromley (Kent) to Charing Cross, a sweeping reduction of fares has been announced by the S.E. and C. Ry., whose bookings have been seriously effected. Every Sunday in future, it is announced, the

third-class return fare to London will be is. 2d.-a reduction of eightpenee in the case of Charing Cross on the existing week-day fare, and twopence less than the return journey to Charing Cross by motor omnibus. This healthy competition has, therefore, quickly benefitted the public.

Killarney's Charms.

The South of Ireland Tourist Development Co., for which Mr. S. W. Crossley, of Westmoreland Street, Dublin, is responsible, contemplates The immediate running of motor chars-4-bancs on the roads around the Takes of Killarney, and to Glengariffe.

Overhanging Trees.

A letter from Thomas Tilling, Ltd., was read, at the last meeting of the Bromley (Kent) Town Council, making complaint that at several places on the Bromley road and hill branches of trees overhung the road and were a danger to passengers on the motorbuses. It was decided that notices he served for the lopping of the trees where necessary.

Daimlers Help Territorials.

A lar!,e, number of Daimler cars, and a Dal tiler petrol-electric omnibus, took port in some• interesting manoeuvres, on Saturday last, at the instance of the Cnventry and Warwickshire Motor Club. We have only spade to give a smell illustration of the manner in whieh the Daimler bits was turned to account, and we may add that this demonstration recalls the big run from Worley Barracks to Shoeburyness, in December, 1908, which was exclusively reported by us.

At the meeting of the Metropolitan Asylums Board on Saturday last, it was reported that one of its motorbuses had been sold to the Sutton Valence Steam Bus Co. for I:80. The Contract Committee reported that it had arranged with the Ambulance Committee for the testing of various brands of motor spirit which had recently been offered to the Board when tenders were invited.

An Important Appointment.

As we go to press, we are informed that Mr. A. Green, the assistant chiefengineer to the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., has accepted an appointment as general manager to the Compagnie Generale des Autolnis of Belgium. This influential company is commencing operations with 50 Byknields, in Brussels, but it is the inten-• don of the directors to extend its activities to other large Continental centres in the near future. We are informed that concessions for no fewer than 60 other services have already been secured.
