• The following roadworks could cause delays to operators and drivers and should be borne in mind when route planning. Drivers should also take special care when driving through contraflow systems and maintain a sensible distance between themselves and the vehicle in front. CM's roadworks report is compiled with the help of the AA and the Department of transport.
• MI Hertfordshire. A contraflow scheme is operating at Junctimi 8 (Hemel Hempstead MI/Mill) resulting in various lane closures until the autumn. Delays expected during peak hours.
• M3 Surrey. A contraflow scheme is in hand at Junction 4 (Erimley) owing to major reconstruction work. As a result the westbound slip road will be closed to all traffic.
• M4 Berkshire. Between Junctions 819 (Maidenhead/M423) and Junction 10 (Reading) a contraflow scheme is operating due to major carriageway repairs. Drivers should expect delays, particularly during the rush hour.
• M2 Kent. Between Junctions 5 and 8 (Brenley Corner). A major maintenance programme is in progress until the end of the year. Various restrictions will be imposed on this section, including a number of contraflow schemes.
▪ M5 West Midlands. Be tween Junctions 4 and 6 (Kidderminster and Worcester) there will be lane closures at various locations until October. Contraflow schemes will operate over most stretches. A mandatory 80km:11(50mph) speed limit is in force during the work period. • M6 Lancs. Between Junctions 32 and 33 (BlackpooliM55 interchange. and A6 turn-off) the left and middle lanes of the northbound earliageway are closed until October for a distance of 41(111(2.5 miles). Contrallow scheme in operation on southbound carriageway.
• M20 Kent. Between Junctions 7 and 8 (A2)) interchange and Maidstone) contraflow system is operating until November for serious lane repairs. Work will be suspended July 24-August 31 to ease holiday traffic flow. Delays during peak hours.
• MIl Essex. The northbound slip r'Oad at the Redbridge roundabout is closed until October while construction work is being carried out on the South Woodford to Barking relief road.
• :M56 Cheshire.. Between Junctions 6 and 9 (Wilmslow and M6 interchange), the eastbound carriageway is closed until mid-August. Contrallow scheme operating on the westbound tNirriageway.
• M25 Between Junction 18 and 19 (11witon Bridge) and Junctions 24 and 25 (Potters Bar/Enfield) general construction work is likely to cause delays during peak hour periods.
Al(M) Nottingham. The north and southbound carriageways at Balderton will be closed separately to carry out urgent patching work. Contraflow schemes in operation.
• Al(M) County Durham. Between Burtree and Ay chile interchanges there will be closures on the northbound carriageway and slip roads for resurfacing work. Diversionary routes will be signix.isted. and a contraflow scheme will operate on the southbound carriageway.
