The base given is the company's works at East Lancashire Road, Liverpool, and the conditions required are "Goods of English Electric-Are Welding Co. Ltd., of Glasgow, as required ".
A spokesman of the company told The Commercial Motor that the object of the development was to improve the service given to customers of an associated company. Arc Welding has delivery vehicles of its own, but there are substantial quantities of small consignments to be handled and difficulties are being experienced in obtaining satisfactory facilities. In many cases English Electric is delivering to the same districts and to the same customers. No substantial alterations will be made to existing transport arrangements.

Glacier Foods Ltd. is the holding company that looks after the ice-cream interests of the triple merger involving Lyons that took place last year. The Commercial Motor understands that the applications are merely to legalize the position, so that vehicles can carry for each other within the organization. " It is not envisaged that a grant of the licences would result in the withdrawal of traffic for that which has gone before with other hauliers ", said an official of J. Lyons.
