Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AFINAL specification was filed at the r patents office this week for a variable-rate suspension called the Camryde which has been developed by Larkin Forge, Ltd., laminated spring manufacturers and repairers, Springfield Road, Chesham, Bucks. Extensive tests have been carried out during the past year.

Invented by D. I. Larkin, the conecrn's joint managing director, the suspension is said to provide a soft ride when unladen and part laden, to protect the cab, body and goods and, at the same time, effectively to control roll arid sway. Increased traction and a virtual elimination of wheel hop are claimed for the suspension with consequent improved braking and roadholding, less tyre wear and improved fuel consumption.

Originally intended for tractive units and medium-weight goods vehicles, the design has also been applied to light vans, heavier rigids and semi-trailers, and has been extended to cars. An important advantage of the Camryde is that,' when applied to a tractive unit with automatic coupling gear, the initial rapid rate of the suspension will give much easier coupling.

Full details arc being obtained and a report will appear in an early issue.
