Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Four-day residential courses on the design, construction and use of recovery vehicles are to be held this year by Dial-Holmes (England) Ltd, Caxton Hill, Ware Road, Hertford; the first opens on March 22 and others will be held in April and October, while there will be a non-residential version in Edinburgh in November.

Lecturers and demonstrators for this new venture will be experienced senior executives of Dial-Holmes, together with personnel from Trace! Fabrications Ltd of Sandy, Beds, who are co-operating in presenting the courses.

The three residential courses will be held at Rush Green, a mile from Hertford. Each will commence midday Monday and finish midday Friday, and will comprise 25 per cent theoretical instruction, 10 per cent film demonstrations and 65 per cent practical instruction. The introduction will be by Mr Wm. C. Jackson, of Dial-Holmes, who will review the equipment available in the UK and comment upon its capabilities.

Tuesday will be devoted to detailed assessment of chassis selection, working loads, testing techniques and a practical demonstration of modern wreckers. On Wednesday theoretical and practical aspects of recovery will be covered, Thursday will have special emphasis on how to assess equipment requirements for particular jobs and how to use this equipment for heavy recovery. The last morning will be devoted to a film of actual recoveries, a written examination and a course discussion.

The course fee is £10 per head for people owning a Holmes wrecker or TFL equipment, and £15 for others. It has RTITB approval and details can be obtained from Dial-Holmes at Hertford (phone 4191).
