Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ATHIRD alternative axle ratio has been introduced by Albion Motors, Ltd., for their Claymore 4and 5-ton underfloorTengined goods chassis. The ,new ratio is an intermediate one of 6.66 to 1, the others being 5.85 and 7.2 to 1. It gives the 5-tonner a top speed of 37 m.p.h. and a gradient ability of 1 in 4.5.

The 6.66 to 1 axle should meet the requirements of operators engaged on medium-distance inter-urban runs, who require a reasonably high top speed but at the same time demand good acceleration and gradient ability in towns.
