TN the House of Commons, on

Monday, Mr, A. T. Lennox-Boyd, Minister of Transport, said that it was reasonable to suppose that all the Road Haulage Executive's vehicles which could not be sold as operable units or retained by the British Transport Commission would be disposed of as chattels.

The chairman of the Road Haulage Association was alleged by Mr. J. Callaghan to have stated that this was the Government's policy, and Mr. Lennox-Boyd replied that it seemed to be a fair inference from the Transport Bill.

He denied a suggestion by Mr. Callaghan that would-be buyers of operable units were being encouraged to delay until the R.H.E.'s vehicles could be " sold as scrap." There would, he said be a strong incentive to purchasers to acquire businesses quickly to obtain the protection afforded by the continuing 25-mile limit on their competitors.
