• P&O Ferrymasters is dropping its appeal against fines totalling £9,500 imposed for drivers' hours ofnces. In May Ipswich magistrates convicted P&O Ferrymasters on 18 charges of failing to use tachographs properly on vehicles run by eight of its drivers.
However, the company was cleared on 23 other charges. After the case it claimed its offences were "not serious" and had promised to appeal.
