Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I WAS pleased to see the news of the Sherpa order for British Telecom in CM.My pleasure at hearing of a good order placed with a British company was tempered, however, by amazement that they have ordered petrol engine vans.

I presume that British Telecom have some researched economic facts behind placing an order for petrol engine vehicles in this day and age but having said that, does it not occur to the government, one wonders, that a penalty tax on petrol engine vans would be a good thing? Why should we allow people to run vehicles which are 20% inefficient on fuel when the equivalent diesel engine vehicle is available for immediate use.

We talk about technology for solving the energy crisis but we do not use the technology of today and I think that until the government institutes some form of penalty taxation on those who specify petrol engines in commercial vehicles we will continue to lose on this fuel-saving opportunity.
