THE GENERAL Descaling Company of Worksop has been awarded a contract by the Al-Attiya Motors and Trading Company of Qatar for three vehicle-mounted units for cleaning sewer pipes and drains by high pressure water jetting.

Built on a Renault, single drive-axle chassis, with a gvw of 13 tons, each unit is powered by the type 747, six-cylinder 5.49litre engine which develops 133bhp at 2,900rpm.

Each unit will incorporate a 1,250 gallon water tank and a jetting pump driven by a Perkins 4-cylinder auxiliary diesel engine to deliver 45 gallons per minute at 1,250 lb/sq in.

The 300 feet of jetting hose willl be carried on a hydraulically powered reel and provided with a range of jetting heads for removing various types of pipe blockages.
