ALL FORD Transits built sin August 23 are being fitted with new, two-spoke steering wheel and with a higher ratio steering box which reduces steering effort. The old box's ratio was 20:1, the new one is 24:1.
All Transit models now have 432mm (17in) diameter steering wheels whereas, formerly, short wheelbase 130 and 160 derivatives had 406mm (161n) wheels, and 457mm (18in) diameter steering wheels were fitted to 175 and 190 models.
Custom models will now be equipped with a "soft feel" version of the new wheel which wi also be available as an option on Standard models.
