THE Traders Road Transport Association is to obtain information from its members as to the adequacy of the dimensions (widths and heights) proposed by the Channel Tunnel Study Group for the carriage of vehicles and loads through the Channel Tunnel. The Group has proposed heights up to 13 ft. 4 in. or, in the case of trailers carried on special wagons. 14 ft, bin.
In an inquiry to members the T.R.T.A. states that the information required is not confined to those whose vehicles are at present engaged in international traffic, as the Association's concern is for the future as well as the present. Members whose vehicles would not be transportable through the tunnel because of limitations imposed by such dimensions are asked to treat the matter as urgent, as the question of dimensions is one of the earlier considerations which have to be settled.
