Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NUMBER of butane road tankers ri for Shell-Mex and B.P. Gases Ltd, has recently been completed at the Greenwich Works of G. A. Harvey and Co. (London) Ltd. Each tanker carries 4,500 gallons of liquid butane. -equivalent in heating value to nearly 1.100,000 cubic feet of town gas. The vehicles will be used for making deliveries of maximum loads to large customers, and are not, therefore, fitted with flow meters.

The vessel diameter of 6 ft. 10 in, is very large and special precautions have been taken to ensure complete safety during operation. The contents gauge is protected by a heavy steel deflector blade, and is arranged so that if severely damaged and broken away from the lank no leakage will occur. Other precautions have included the fitting of safety valvs which vent excessive tank vapour pressures in an emergency. The tank discharge valve in the pump suction line is pressure operated so that should there be a drop in pressure for any reason, the valve will close automatically.

When the tankers are in use all loading and discharge operations are carried out at ground level. The main discharge line is on the nearside, rising at an angle on to the hose rack just behind the front wheels. The hose is permanently attached to the discharge line, and self-sealing couplings are provided at the delivery

-outlet, to ensure that there is no escape of gas during delivery, The 200-gallon minimum capacity discharge pump is driven from the power take-off point of the vehicle gearbox.

Although Harvey has built similar tanks in the past, this is the first occasion that the company has been also responsible for installing the tanks and equipment on the chassis.
