AN OPERATOR has been killed as she desperately tried to stop thieves stealing a truck from her yard in West London.

The fatal incident happened at around 5pm last Sunday (31 October) on Kensington Road in Northolt.

Police believe the victim was crushed against a wall as the offenders tried to steal a 26-tonne truck, which was loaded with a mechanical digger.

A Metropolitan police spokes woman says: "On arrival officers discovered a woman under a lorry which had also collided with a wall. She was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem will be held in due course.

"At this stage we believe that someone was attempting to steal the lorry when they collided with the woman.They left the scene following the collision."
