all longdistance services working into Cork, and for some of the more important local services, has been opened by the Irish Minister for Transport and Power, Mr. Erskine Childers.
The ground floor of the main building houses a waiting hall which gives direct access to the bus departure platform. Accommodation is also provided for ticket, inspectors', left-luggage and parcels offices, as well as for shopping facilities. On the first floor are buffet, public telephoned, toilet accommodation, lost property department and the telephone switchboard.
Staff facilities at the station include a canteen with kitchenette, rest room and toilet accommodation.
The new bus departure and arrival park is shortly to be opened at Sligo. This will be adjacent to the departure platform of the railway station, 'although at a lower level. Access to the station will be by means of a stepway..
