THE United Kingdom demand for all

petroleum products was 7.8 per cent. higher in 1961 than in 1960; consumption of dery went up by 9 per cent. to 2,838,425 tons.

These figures, and many more, are provided in "U.K. Petroleum Industry Statistics" published last week by the Petroleum Information Bureau, 4 Brook Street, London, W.I.

Estimated figures show that p.s.v. consumption of motor spirit (petrol) fell from 82,000 tons to 72,000 tons, their consumption of dery rising from 840,000 tons to 850,000 tons. Expressed in the same units, goods vehicle usage of dery rose strikingly from 1,683 to 1,924; their consumption of motor spirit was also up, but only by 25,000 tons.
