Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A N application by Webster Bros.

(W:2an), Ltd., to deviate the route of their Bolton-Llandudno express service, and introduce a new picking-up point in Chester, was strongly opposed at Manchester last week, The company also sought to introduce period return fares between Chester and Wigan. Ashton, Newton, Earlestown and St. Helens.

Mr. E. T. Davies, a director of Salopia Saloon Coaches, Ltd., objecting, stated that they were operators of extended tours based at Whitchurch, and operated a feeder service from Ellesmere Port, with a picking-up point in Chester. If the Webster application were granted some of their passengers might well be abstracted.

The Merseyside manager of Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., Mr. W. Jones, supported the objection by pointing out that when people were joining extended tours in the Chester area they usually travelled from their homes by Crosville stage carriage services and, bearing this in mind, it would seem that there was little necessity for additional facilities.

Mr. F. D. Walker, for Salopia Saloon Coaches and Ribble Motor Services. submitted that Webster Bros. were largescale tours operators and now they were trying to draw traffic from the whole of the Wirral Peninsular.

Mr, J. Booth, for Webster Bros., contended that the people of Chester deserved the extra facility of the new point and the route of the express Llandudno service would only be extended by two miles. He did not see how the application could harm other operators in the area.

The Chairman of the North Western Traffic Commissioners was represented by Mr. F. Williamson, who reserved their decis'on.
