was still not r-k too late for him to reconsider the road passenger transport industry's case for a reduction in fuel tax and Excise duty was contained in a letter sent last week to the Chancellor of the Exchequer by the Municipal Passenger Transport Association, Public Transport Association, Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association and the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association.
The letter expressed the "profound regret and disappointment" of the associations that the Chancellor had made no . reduction in •the taxes. It added that the tenor of his remarks during the Budget Speech served to reinforce the points made in their memorandum to the Economic Secretary on February 8.
This memorandum was "unanswerable." said the letter.
