AMERICAN motor manufacturers, concerned
that restrictive government legislation on motor safety is in the offing, have announced several safety expansions in recent months.
General Motors are to build three new vehicle testing facilities at its Milford, Michigan, testing ground as part of a two-year programme. These include a safety test engineering building, a tyre testing division, and a vehicle dynamics evaluation section.
The safety engineering building, with 88,000 sq.ft. of office and work space, will be the main centre for all the company's vehicle, driver and road safety activities.
