VIVE vehicles were added to a 23-vehicle A licence at Aberdeen last week to meet additional exports and import needs.
Supporting the application by James Paterson and Co. (Motor Hirers) Ltd., a shipbroker witness said that timber unloaded at the quay was sometimes not moved for a month or more because of shortage of vehicles.
On behalf of J. Stephen (Fish Curers) Ltd. and the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society Ltd. it was said that there was now a regular flow of "mink food" to Scandinavia. This consisted of fish heads and tails frozen hard into slabs, carried on pallets. Without a regular flow of vehicles, cold-store staff were left idle.
