IN Falkirk-based Walter Alexander plans to launch a new single-deck citybus body later this year, which it says is the first of several new body styles it is working on.
The aluminium body will be available on rigid and articulated units; it will eventually replace the PS-type body. Features will include a single split screen; gasket glazed side windows; large reflection-free destination display; deep cantrail; quick release deep skirt panels; access to front panels for maintenance and replacement; a choice of smoothbonded or conventional riveted side panels; and straight or split step front entrance.
Li Walter Alexander has received an order for 150 AM-type midibus bodies on MercedesBenz 709D chassis for Stagecoach Holdings. It is a repeat order for the Tayside giant, which ordered 100 similar bodies in 1990.
