Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOR using a lorry under limited trade plates to carry a new car after collection from the manufacturers, Charles Attwood and Son. Ltd., Salop Street. Wolverhampton, were prosecuted at Rugby last week. Another summons stated that the vehicle was unregistered and had no Excise licence.

Defendants pleaded not guilty. The secretary of the company said that the car was not being carried for hire or reward, although a delivery charge was made for vehicles that the company sold.

The defending solicitor said that the company were entitled to carry goods and that a new car constituted an item of goods. Both summonses were dismissed.
