• Mr John Peyton, Minister for Transport Industries, is considering compulsory split braking systems on coaches. He revealed this in the Commons last week after he had turned down a call from Mr Ted Leadbitter (Labour, Hartlepools), for compulsory supplementary brakes on coaches liable to be engaged in carrying passengers anywhere in this country. . The issue had been taken up by Mr Leadbitter after talks with the Middlesbrough-based Bee-Line Roadways Ltd in the light of coach accidents in the North . East last year. All Bee-Line coaches have been fitted with electro-magnetic retarder . supplementary braking systems.
