IRU on the web

• The International Road Transport Union's new web site includes information on the organisation's history, activities and objectives with a list of publications. There is also a table which is updated every fortnight indicating the price of diesel throughout Europe and truck waiting times at international borders.

Smarter cards

• Summit at Lloyd's is the first UK insurer to issue credit card-style certificates to its fleet insurance customers. The certificates include evidence of cover throughout the EU with details printed on the card in German, French and Spanish. GL weighbridge

• Midlands-based GL De-m Developments has introduced a portable weighbridge. Its main feature is its roll-on roll-off design with removable A-frame to ease entrance and exit. This eliminates crane hire costs or yard/site deployment. The 40-tonne weighbridge has a 7.5m deck.

Mobile testing

• The Dynomet Dynamometer is a portable system which enables power testing of motor vehicles under normal driving conditions.
