Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DECISION was reserved by the North Western Traffic Commissioners in Manchester last week when Lancashire United Transport, Ltd., sought to amalgamate certain of their excursions and tours licences.

Mr. J. Whitehead, for the objecting coach operators, suggested that the number of vehicles which might be used by L.U.T. should be limited, and that there should he a restriction on the linking of services. This argument was supported by British Railways.

Mr. H. Backhouse, for L.U.T., said that in one instance they were prepared for the Commissioners to reduce the number of vehicles from six to five. He alleged that the objectors were seeking to protect their North Wales destinations, but that there was no evidence of any traffic to them during the middle of the week. which was when L.U.T. ran their excursions and tours.

Mr. Backhouse said that the applicants were not competing with express services, and there was no evidence that the objectors were going to be affected.
