• Mintex Don is redeveloping its disc brake pad factory and head office at Cleckheaton, West Yorks. By the end of 1993 the multi-million pound project will provide 7.400m' (80,000ft2) of factory space.

Leakless link

• T&N.s subsidiary McCord Payne is teaming up with Japanese gasket manufacturer Nippon Leakless to form a joint venture called McCord Leakless Sealing Company. It will be based in Athens, Alabama.

Airflow doubles

• Spraybooth manufacturer Airflow is doubling the size of its factory. The company, which makes booths for the CV and industrial market, says that the effects of COSHH legislation and the Environmental Protection Act have helped orders.

Fast Ford

• The 27th of Ford's recently launched Rapid Fit centres has been opened at Polar Motor Company, Barnsley. By spring 1993 Ford expect to have 250 Rapid Fit centres offering drive-in service on all the normal fast fit lines.

Chairman Hespin

• Charles Hespin has been appointed as chairman of the Tyre Industry Council. Hespin, who remains managing director of Motorway Tyres, takes over from Geoff Lawrence.

Correction

• In the July/August issue of Workshop we reported Herbens director Barry Knight's prediction on the value of the CV paint market. He expects it to rise to £30m by 1995 from £26m now, not £30,000 from £26,000 as we quoted.
