• The Transport Minister has awarded to Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd. the contract for the development of Leigh Delamere service area, near Chippenham, Wilts, on the LondonSouth Wales Motorway (M4). The service area is expected to open towards the end of 1971.
This is the first time any oil company has tendered successfully for a motorway service Site which will offer multibrand refuelling facilities.
Esso is already developing service areas at Washington /Birtley on the Al (M) and Woolley Edge on the Ml.
