• The Government has beer urged again to come down off the fence and back the 40tonne limit by the Freight Transport Association.
Roads and Traffic Minister Peter Bottomley was taking questions after addressing thE ETA's 60-strong national cow cil when he received appeals for more positive Governmen support for the transport indu try. The Government claims that bridges are not strong enough to cope with an increase to 40 tonnes.
