Transport Minister Lynda Chalker has authorised work on the A428 Bromham by-pass in Bedfordshire, with work starting possibly early next year.
A £10m five-mile stretch of the A40 west of the Carmarthen by-pass was opened last week, 27 weeks ahead of schedule. It is of dual-carriageway standard.
And the E27rn Foyle Bridge in Derry has been opened by Northern Ireland Secretary Douglas Hurd. Over one third of its cost was met with EEC funds.
