ABBOTT Stand 13 A 20-seater Semi-de-luxe Bus Body

AGUY Victory chassis will be used to draw attention to the bus bodywork of this company. It will carry a semi-de-luxe pattern built to seat 20 people. The design embodies a door on each side at the front and an emergency exit at the rear. The seats are upholstered in moquette and leather, a style which is coming into general use, and the underside of the roof is finished in leather cloth to match the seat trimmings. Longitudinal parcels racks are arranged in the interior, whilst there is a locker in the skirting of each side. The fittings are finished in chromium and the interior woodwork is frenchpolished mahogany.—E. D. Abbott, Ltd., Farnham.

ARLINGTON Stand 21 New Features in an Aluminium. panelled Steel Body

CERTAIN unusual features will be apparent in the body which this company will display on an A.E.C. Regal chassis, and the vehicle will be shown in the company of a 32-seater

in which the T.S.31.0 chassis is employed and a Bedford 20-seater.

The body of the Regal will seat 30. people. It is built of steel and panelled, on the lower part with aluminium sheets, which are shaped to give a concave' and convex effect. The roof has a clerestory centre portion, accommodation for luggage being provided on each side of it. Bent glasses are used alongside the large window at the rear. The upper and lower panels are divided by a raised metal section, about 5 ins, deep, the centre of which is rolled to give a concave effect.

The service entrance is on the near side at the rear and the emergency exit on the off side at the front. Rawlings window lifts are used throughout. The seats incorporate head rests. The roof is decorated with a cream-coloured leather cloth, which can easily be cleaned. Arrangements have been made for heating the interior by the ClaytonDewanclre method ; parcels racks extend along both sides of the body. All exterior and interior fittings are chromium plated.

A feature of the T.S.M. 32-seater will be the Morley all-metal sliding roof. In this vehicle luggage accommodation is provided for by a large compadome, is addition to lockers along each side of the body.

The 20-seater body is mounted on a Bedford chassis, having a wheelbase of 13 ft. 1 in. This is a smart vehicle which sells at a reasonable figure.— Arlington Motor Co., Morley House, Regent Street, London, W.1.

BEADLE Stand 77 A Front-entrance Double-decker with Two Emergency Exits

OF the three exhibits to be displayed' by this concern, the double-decker will chiefly interest those operators concerned with the transport of peak loads. The basis of this vehicle will be a T.S.M. chassis and the design incorporates emergency exits at the rear, that from the top deck incorporating a ladder. The staircase is at the front, immediately inside the door, which is sufficiently wide to allow two streams of passengers from the upper and lower saloons. The entrance has a sliding door. The type of seat employed is deserving of attention, as it is built up on a steel-tube frame.

The second exhibit will be a MorrisCommercial Viceroy 20-seater coach of attractive appearance. The interior includes accommodation for parcels, whilst a section of the roof is set aside for heavier baggage, access to it being by means of four folding steps which are brought into action simultaneously.

A service-bus body, built to conform with the Ministry of Transport regulations and mounted on a Thornycroft chassis completes the company's display. —John C. Beadle (Coo chlmilders), Ltd., Lowfield Street. Dartford. BROMILOW AND EDWARDS Stand 109 Goods Models with Three-way-tipping

GOODS operators will be chiefly interestedterested in the exhibits to be shown by this concern. There will be four vehicles on view and, in each case, the company's three-way tipping gear will be incorporated. There will be an A.E.C. Mammoth Major, in addition to a QC forward-type Thornycroft, a Leyland Bull Terrier and a Karrier 2i-tonner.

The body of the A.E.C. vehicle is 18 ft. 4 ins. long, 7 ft. wide and 2 ft. deep, and is built up on a channel-seetoned steel under-frame. The side doors are divided vertically and horizontally, the upper doors being hinged at the top and the lower ones at the bottom; the letter fall on chains to bring them level with the floor of the body.

The Thornycroft tipper has a body

19 ft long, 6 ft. 8 ins, wide and 2 ft. 6 ins, deem It is built up on a hardwood under-frame, having longitudinal runners flitched throughout with channel-section steel.. The sides of the body are split vertically and horizontally. Certain, of these featuees also apply in the case of the Leyland, vehicle, but the body is 14 ft long, 6-ft:8 ins, wide and 2 ft. 3 ins. deep. The dimensions of the body on the Karrier are as follow:— Length 10 ft. 6 ins., width 6 ft. 3 ins., depth 1 ft. 9 ins.—Bromilow and Edwards, Ltd., Foundry Street Works, Belton.

BRUSH Stand 52 A Good Array of Brush Passenger Bodywork

THERE will be good opportunities for visitors to form an opinion of the workmanship behind Brush-built bodies, for not only will the company be showing a double-deck vehicle and a single-decker on its own stand, but different classes of passenger body will be on view on the stands occupied by four chassis makers. The company is devoting much attention to the exterior lines of its passenger-carrying products, whilst interior features which materially contribute to the occupants' comfort are continually under notice.

The single-deck body on the company's stand will be mounted on a Leyland Tiger chassis and is representative of the latest type of coach employed for long-distance work. The body is built to the design of the British Electrical Federation, and is used for meeting the coaching requirements of some of the Federation's associated companies. It is a 28-seater and amongst its features can be mentioned Clayton-Dewandre heating, luggage containers, luxury-type seating with foot rests and semi-direct lighting.

The double-decker is a 55-seater, its basis being an A.E.C. Regent chassis. This vehicle is similar to others already supplied for municipal service in Walsall, but incorporates miner alterations suggested by the general manager of the transport undertaking in that centre.— Brush Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., Falcon Works, Loughborough.

BURLINGHAM Stand 51 A Semi-observation-type Coach with Novel Features MITE 30-seater semi-observation-type 1 body will attract visitors' attention on this stand. It will be mounted on an Albion chassis and an outstanding feature will be the graduated raised platform carrying the three back rows of seats which face to the rear. The back of the coach has a decided slope inwards at the top, and the corners are glazed with shaped glasses so as to give the maximum degree of vision. Arrangements are made for carrying the luggage on the roof, and this is reached from the side. The sliding roof is of Sunsaloon make.

The main entrance is at the front on the near side. It is of the sliding type and a feature is the patent combined handle.and lock. Walnut finish is employed for the interior.

The body of the Leyland Cub 20seater will embody in its design what is termed a splayed pillar. This is wider at the top than at the waist rail, having a 2-in. radiup at the waist level and a 4-in, radius at the cant-rail. This coach has a sliding doer on the near side and an emergency exit at the rear. The seating is planned in the conventional way, but a new design of seat is used. The capacity of the final exhibit—an A.E.C. Regal Snnsaloon coach—is for 30 persons. The monitor-shaped roof has lateral sections which slide from the side under the centre fixed portion, which traverses the frill length of the body and embodies a new design of luggage rack. In place of a lifeguard the company is fitting a louvred valance which can be readily and quickly detached.-11. V. INTEREST in the road tanker to be displayed on this well-known Company's stand is sure to be aroused by reason of the fact that the tank, which is of the triple-compartment variety and holds 1,500 gallons, is made frem

Bitmabright aluminium alloy, which effects a considerable saving of weight as compared with steel. The tank will be mounted on a Karrier Chaser chassis, and will embody all the company's latest refinements, including patent outlet valves operated from the rear of the vehicle by the aid of substantial Bowden cables, valve-actuating gear, etc.

A similar tank to that briefly described will also be shown on the stand occupied by Guy Motors, Ltd.—W. P. Butterfield, Ltd., Shipley, Yorks.

CARTER PATERSON Stand 67

An Interesting Fabric.panelled Detachable Container AS an experienced transport operator, this company has every reason to know the requirements of goods operators in the matter of bodywork, and it intends to show examples of its fixed tilt-van body for brewers' use, and a special model on which a fabricpanelled detachable container will be m minted. In the case of the brewers' body, two drop flaps are used in the body sides. To retain the load in position, four detachable rods are used at the rear. This body is mounted on a Thornycroft 21.-ton chassis.

The basis of the other interesting exhibit is to be an Albion 4-tonner. The angles and cross-channels of the tray are made of duralumin, bolted to aluminium bearers, thus providing a light, yet strong structure. The container is framed up in oak, reinforced with duralumin corner brackets. The top is close-boarded with tongued and grooved deal and covered with sheet aluminium, whilst the sides and front are covered with fabric, which can easily be detached, as each panel is built in a separate. frame, being held in position by mouldings. Felt is inserted between the fabric panel and the inside battens, to form a cushion and, at the same time, prevent sagging.

The back doors are built up on a light oak frame, reinforced with duralumin corner brackets and panelled with detachable fabrieunits, similar to those employed at the sides.---Carter Paterson and Co., Ltd., 8, Macclesfield Street, London, E.C.1.

CUNARD Stand 5 A Neat Publicity Body and a Smart

COACHWORK by the Cunard com pany will be by by a Morrie 5-cwt. chassis carrying a body simulating a millinery box and a 10-cwt. chassis of the same make on which is mounted a body built to meet the requirements of high-class stores requiring something superior to the ordinary trade delivery van.

The former is designed so as to enclose the rear wheels arid has removable panels over the wheels to facilitate access and detaching. A V-shaped screen has been cleverly included in the design, so that the continuous shape of the box has been retained.

In many respects the lines of a private vehicle have been followed for the van body. Although there is ample headroom inside the body, there is no suggestion of undue height owing to the skilful way in which the dome has been built and the use of horizontal mouldings. DODSON Stand 29 Well-appointed Buses for London and Provincial Service

THIS company has built up a big reputation for its passenger body products, of which there will be two examples. One will be a double-saloon body mounted on a Leyland Titan chassis and constructed for use in the metropolitan area, whilst the other will be a single-deck body superimposed upon an A.E.C. Regal chassis, the vehicle being intended for provincial use.

The double-decker is a 56-seater, in which 26 people are carried in the lower saloon. The back platform and stairs are totally enclosed and an emergency exit is built at the back of the top deck. Nesta Pairyweig,ht semi-bucket chairs

are employed for seating. Ventilation is attended to by Q.T. half-drop windows.; in addition, Airvac ventilators are used in the roof of the upper saloon and Colt side-type fittings in the lower saloon. The ceilings of both saloons, which are double-cased, are finished in white scratchless leather -cloth. Polished walnut facial; are used for the interior finish. This vehicle has been built for the Standard Omnibus Co.

The single-decker is finished in the, standard colours of the Southern Vectis Omnibus Co., Ltd. It is a 32-seater with the passenger entrance on the near side at the rear, an emergency exit being provided at the off-side front end. Adequate ventilation is obtained by the use of nine drop windows mounted on E and E. spring-balance fittings, Airvac ventilators also being embodied in the centre line of the roof.—Christopher Dodson (1930), Ltd., Cobbold Road, Willesden, London, N.W.10.

DUPLE Stand 74 A Patent New Staircase on a Double-decker

Crossley and Gilford ill be employed for the purpose of displaying the products of this prominent coachbuilding concern. The first, a Lance chassis, will carry a

56-seater double-deck body. This incorporates a feature which is covered by a provisional patent—a straight stairway on the near side. This enables passengers entering or leaving the bus from the top deck to do .so without passing across the entrance to the lower deck, thus facilitating and speeding up passengers' movements. Further, it is claimed that greater seating accommodation can be provided when ,this type of stairway is adopted. The body has a rear emergency exit for the top deck and aluminium panels are used. The semi-bucket-type seats are upholstered in a combination of moquette and leather. Widney half-drop windows ,are fitted.

The Crossley vehicle will have a 31seater body and embodies a sliding frontentrance door on the near side; a new patent .donble4ock emergency exit .being provided on the off side. The •appointments are of a high, order and. the luxury-type seats are provided With arm and foot rests. Interior fitengs inaude full-length parcels Tacks, clock, mirrors, etc.

The Gifford chassis chosen for dia.: playing the other Duple exhibit is the AS6. six-cylinder model ; the .body which it will carry is a 20::seater saloon.. DURAMIN Stand 54

An Unusual Insulated Body, Excellent Lightweight Specimens rIF the two interesting exhibits to kJ be displayed by this company the insulated meat-van body, mounted on an A.E.C. Mammoth low-loading chassis, deserves special attention.

D56 It will be employed for carrYing frozen or chilled meat, for which reason it is insulated with Alfol. The insulation space between the outer and inner panels is 3 ins, along the sides, ends and roof, and 2 ins, at the floor level, this being sufficient to maintain a constant temperature for at least 24 hours.

Then, again, it can be used for carrying freshly killed meat, which is suspended from the roof framing, roof bars and hooks being provided. For carry

ing livestoek a second tier is available, and when net in use thls is carried in sections inside the body. The tailboard also serves as the ramp for the lower floor, which is:only 20 in. a6ove dround level. An easy shme to the upper deck is provided by a duraltunin ramp, 12 ft. ionsand • 3 ft.' wide; it weighs only 100 lb. The internal .dimensions of the body are as follow :—Length, 19 ft. 9 ins.; width, 6 ft.; height, 7-ft. 9 ins. ; and, complete with all fittings, it weighs only 30 cwt.

The other body to be shown is one of fern. bell I., on the Lvylancl Hippo chassis for United Dairies, Ltd. The framing and floor, as well as the cab, are constructed of duralumin, the outer and inner panels being of aluminium sheet. The only wood used is for the roller shutters at the sides and the rear. The body is 22 ft. long, 6 ft. 10 ins. wide and 6 ft. 3 ins, high at the centre. The total weight of the body and cab is only 25 'cwt., and the vehicle can deal with a pay-load of 11 tons 15 cwt. —Duramin Engineering Co., Ltd., 23-24, Hythe Road, London, N.W.10. EAGLE Stand 44 Goods Bodywork on--Motor Chassis and Trailers

WHILST this stand will be devoted mainly to the exhibition of Eagle trailers, attention is drawn to the company's sturdy bodywork, For example, a Thornycroft is to be staged with a steel end-tipping body equipped with Eagle hydraulic tipping gear of the telescopic kind, this being fitted at the front.

Channele instead of angle body-frame upright S3 are used and these are extremely rigid.

The company's flat platform bodies will be seen, not only on trailers of the usual' commercial sizes, suCh as the 3-tonner, but also on a 30-ton trailer having four pairs of twin-tyred wheels.

On the stand there will, of course, be examPles of tipping gear, including the Eagle patent hydraulic end-tipping set fitted to a trailer of the kind built for use with tractors.—Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., Eagle Works, Warwick.

ECCLES Stand 93 Several Styles of Horsebox, Including an Articulated Unit

THOSE concerned in any way with the transport of horses would do well to visit this company's stand, on which will be displayed several types of horsebox, one being of the trailer variety for carrying two animals. This unit can be employed behind a car, or lorry and it has a loading ramp at the rear and an unloading ramp Situated at the front.

Another horsebox pure and simple will be mounted on a Bedford 2-ton chassis. This is also for the conveyance of two animals, and a feature of the design, is the spring-controlled ramp. There is a grooms' compartment at the rear, where feeding bowls and storage lockers are provided Perhaps the most interesting exhibit will be the dual-purpose horsebox, which comprises a Chevrolet 30-cwt. chassis and an articnlated trailer unit. This class of vehicle provides an unusually low loading line.

It has two large ramps, that used for loading purposes being at the rear, whilst the unloading ramp is at the' side.

The company's exhibit will be completed by a four-wheeled trailer' to carry 40-45-cwt. loads and a range of small luggage trailers for towing behind light cars.—Eceles Motor Caravans, Ltd., Stirchley, Birmingham. ENGLISH ELECTRIC Stand 53 Advanced Ideas in a Double-saloon Trolley-bus Body

SOME new features will be found in the trolley-bus body to be shown by this company. Externally, the bus, for which an A.E.C. chassis is employed, is built on clean lines, and this is emphasized by the streamlining. The destination indicators are sunk flush with the external panels and the trolley structure is totally enclosed. A double staircase to the uPper saloon, with a front exit 'door in the lower saloon, is provided," so that passengers entering at the rear always leave from the front. .

A small hinged platform is provided from the upper saloon, at the rear end, to enable trolley-heads to be examined.

To comply with official requirements, emergency exit-a are provided in both upper and lower saloons. The former comprises the whole of the front-end window. In the lower saloon the emergency exit is provided at the front end on. the off side, immediately behind the forward staircase. The seat whichbacks on to this stairway, adjacent to

the exit, is arranged to tip up. .

Each saloon has an inviting appearance, not only on account of the seating, but by reason of the decorative scheme. Twenty-four people are seated in the lower saloon and 31 in the upper saloon. The headroom in the lower deck in 5 ft. 10-i ins., being only 1 in. less in the upper saloon. To assist in keeping down the weight aluminium sheets are used for all exterior panels.—English. GROSE Stand 28 Two Bus Bodies, a Coach and a De Luxe Van

Othe three passenger bodies to be displayed by this company, two will be 20-seaters, one for bus work being mounted on a Bedford long-wheelbase chassis, and the other far coach service on a Commer Invader chassis. The bus is of the one-man-operated type. There is an emergency door at the rear and this has a three-point locking arrangement; an automatic drop step is used in conjunction with this door. A first-aid outfit and a Pyrene fireextinguisher strike a note of safety.

The coach is of the all-weather pattern and it has a sliding-type entrance at each side at the front, the doors being carried in ball-bearing slides at the top and bottom. The emergency door is on the off side at the rear.

Another example of the company's passenger bodywork will be a 32-seater de-luxe-type saloon bus, and it will be mounted on a Crossley Arrow chassis. This body has a domed roof and hack. Interior woodwork is finished in walnut. A. Leveroll patent seat is provided for the driver.

An example of the company's goods bodywork, comprising a de-luxe-type van body, will be mounted on a Chevrolet 30-ewt. chassis. This has metal-faced plywood panels and a roller door at the rear. The overall length is 17 ft. 2 ins. and the width 5 ft. 7 ins.—Grose, Ltd, Marefair, Northampton.

HARRINGTON Stand 31 Saloon Bus and Coach Bodies of Attractive Design

Othe three vehicles to he shown On this stand, to draw attention to Harrington passenger-carrying bodies,

one will be a saloon bus and the other two coaches, one of the latter being intended for long-distance work. The bus will be a 31-seater, in which the Thornycroft Cygnet chassis is used. Enclosedtype parcels racks, incorporating flushfitting lights, are used in this body.

Of the coaches one has as its basis the Daimler CH6 chassis and the other —the long-distance model—the Guy long-wheelbase model. The well-known Walman sliding head is incorporated in the former, whilst the Sunsaloon fitting, which achieves the same object, is used in the latter. Panelled-type parcels racks are used in the Daimler coach, the rear of the roof of which is arranged to take luggage, additional baggage being accommodated under the floor.

Features of the long-distance coach are enclosed-typo parcels racks, recessed nameboard in side 'roof panels and ft built-in luggage carrier.—Thomas Harrington, Ltd., Sackville Works, Old Shoreham Road, Hove.

A 26-SEATER bus body is being shown by this coachbuilder and it is similar to six which have recently been supplied to the Wilts and Dorset Motor Services, Ltd. It embodies continuous parcels racks in its design, chromium-framed louvres, two large Airvacs in the roof, nine interior floodlights, first-aid box and a Pyrene lireextinguisher. The emergency door has a novel step.

HYDRAULIC HOIST Stand 111 Electrically Welded and Riveted Steel Bodies with Wood Hydraulic Tipping Gear.

A THORNYCROFT 1C4-type chassis Ilk_ will be shown with cab and electrically welded all-steel body, having drop sides and a tail gate hinged at the top in such a way that it is detachable. This vehicle will have a Wood PS-type hydraulic ripping gear, There will also be a Karrier OHS forward-control 6-tonner with riveted all-steel tipping body mid Wood 1'5-type hydraulic gear. A number of component parts of the tipping gear, as well as various power takeoffs, will be shown.—The Hydraulic Hoist Co., Ltd., 182, Lord Street, Southport.

Live-stock Carrier and a Special Van A GUY chassis, equipped as a cattle

truck but suitable also for general purposes, will be the main feature on this stand. The platform space measures 12 ft. 6 ins. by 6 ft. 8 ins.

The upper deck of the vehicle is easily detached if, after carrying sheep, pigs, ete., it is desired to transport cattle. Instead of detaching it, each half may be folded up to the sides in rather an ingenious manner. Access to the upper deck is by a folding ramp which, when lowered, rests on the main ramp. To the ramp is fitted a collapsible guide, the two folding inside the body against the top deck when not in use. There will also be a special van on the stand.

LONDON LORRIES Stand 56

Interior Luggage Arrangements on Saloon Coaches SALOON bodies mounted upon Morris-Commercial and Maudslay ML3 chassis will comprise the exhibit of this well-established concern. Both bodies are of rakish design and have large rear quarter lights. The interior luggage arrangements on the former consist in the provision of longitudinal racks and a container built-in above the rear dome. The company's popular Plein-Azur flexible sliding roof is 'lied. 'Moquette upholstered seats for 32 passengers are provided.

The body on the other chassis is of similar design, but has luggage accommodation in the rear of the body. One row of seats is eliminated, which reduces the seating capacity to 28, the luggage being stored in a specially constructed compartment approached from the rear. It will thus be seen that in each ease the conventional luggage container on the roof, which is often troublesome, is dispensed with.—London Lorries, Ltd., Spring Place, Kentish Town, London, N.W.5.

MIDLAND LIGHT BODIES Stand 79

A Furniture Van of Over 1,000 Cubic Ft. Capacity —nnItOMINENT on this company's 1stand will be a service bus body mounted on a Morris-Commercial forD57 ward-control chassis, as well as three examples of goods-carrying body. The nassenger model will be a 34-seater. Along both sides of the bus, just below the roof, is a polished walnut shelf for the accommodation of small parcels. This is supported by an interesting type of bracket which embodies in its design hand grips for passengers who have to stand.

The framework of the body is unusually strong, as all the bottom cross-bearers are reinforced for their full width and right up each main pillar by mild-steel plates. Another point of interest to operators is the special design of seat, which is built in one piece of thick plywood. This is bolted to laminated wood legs, which in turn are fixed to the floor.

Towering above the exhibits will be a van body, which will chiefly interest thoseueaged in the furniture-carrying trade'-"'This will be carried by a Morris-Conomercial Leader chassis, and it has a loading capacity of just over 1,000Inubic ft. There is a detachable loadiM ramp. The framework is, wherever possible, spindled out for lightness, as in aeroplane practice.

The brewing industry is catered for by a lorry body, finished in the natural wood, varnished, which is carried by a Morris-Commercial 4ton chassis.

Somewhat ,dwarfed by these specimens will be a light platform body with cab, mounted on a Rover 10-cwt. chassis. The point of interest here ie that the vehicle is being finished in Dulux, a durable finish with a promising future.—Midland Light Bodies, Ltd., Holbrook Lane, Coventry.

MUMFORD Stand 19 Raised Seats to Overcome the Wheel-arch Difficulty "lt TUikIFORD bodywork will be dis„in:played to advantage on two passenger-Carrying chassis, one a Guy Conquest • and the other a Willys longwheelbase model. The former will be a 26-passenger inter-city-type luxury bus body. Entrance is effected by a sliding door on the near side at the rear. The seating has been planned so that all passengers face forwards, end, by raising the seats on a platform on each side of the gangway, the wheel-arch difficulty has been overcome. In addition, ample space for luggage has been provided under each seat, access to the compartment being obtained by tilting the cushion. Additional luggage can be accommodated on longitudinal parcels boards suspended from the roof.

Van Bodies on Light and Mediumcapacity Chassis

Ot NTED on a Morris-Commercial _ALLeader 3-ton chassis, this ''compiny will display a special boxvan, body D58 in which the oak and ash framework is covered with aluminium-faced plywood panels. The interior is equipped with racked bins. Special features include a rear step with a toggle action and a floating dashboard, incidentally, tile step is wired to a tell-tale lamp in the cab, which warns the driver when the step is down.

A body which is eminently suitable for use in the dairy trade will be carried by a Dennis 2-ton forwardcontrol chassis. Roller shutters are fitted to both sides, whilst hinged doors are available when rear loading or unloading is necessary. A special feature is the air space in the roof and sides of the body.

Mounted on a Trojan 12-cwt. chassis will be a boxvan body having ash framing and armoured plywood panelling. The roof is slatted and covered with leatherette. NORTHERN COUNTIES Stand 47 Some New Features in a 32-seater BUR Body

IN the design of the 32-seater saloon bus body to be shown by this company on an Albion model 70 chassis, special attention has been given to the question of accommodating luggage and, in addition to pcoviding interior racks which run the full length of the vehicle on each side, a locker is arranged on the' roof at the rear, this being capable of being loaded from the interior, whilst on the' roof immediately in front of this section a luggage rail encloses a compartment for carrying awkward or outsize packages.

The seats, which are upholstered in a combination of moquette and leather, are of a luxurious pattern and, although the maximum comfort is given, the total thickness of the back rest does not, at any point, exceed 2 ins. A noteworthy point is the flexible rear corner penels,

which, it is said, withstand an impact without fracturing and can easily be made to assume their normal shape.

The company will also display a 20seater bus body on an Albion model-49

PARK ROYAL Stand 20 A Double-deck Bus with a Sliding

ALONGSIDE two double-saloon buses on this two will be a 31seater service bus body mounted on a Leyland Lion chassis. This has an open

entrance at the on the near side and an emergency exit at the rear. Xll the seats are arranged to face forwards, with the exception of two on each side over the wheel-arches. They are 'upholstered in moquette, and the gangway ends are finished with leather. Young windows are incorporated, five lights on each side being arranged to drop. There are three ventilators in the roof and louvre-type fittings in the front bulkhead. Therelis a slatted, upright luggage rack built into the near side hind corner.

Of the two doubledeckers, one will be a 48-seater and the other a 52-seater ; the former will have as its basis a Dennis Lance chassis and the latter a Daimler CH6 chassis. The former has a Sunsaloon sliding head for the top deck. The passenger seats are equally divided between upper and lower saloons. The Sunsaloon head can be wound back from a point about 3 ft. from the front of the canopy, and it is concealed in the back dome; it gives an opening about 18 ft. long.

In the other double-decker 28 persons are carried in the upper saloon and 24 on the lower deck. Throughout both double-deckers the interior fittings are in black Doverite or chromium plate and the mouldings and fillets are in polished walnut —Park Royal Coach Works, Ltd. PETTY Stand 107 A Body Equally Suited for Service or Coach Duty MHE new Commer Centaur will be used to display a Petty 20-passenger body, which is described as being of the dual-purpose type, in that it can be equally well employed for ordinary service work or for coach duties. An emergency door is arranged at the back end of the gangway, whilst an entrance door is controlled by the driver.

PLAXT ONStand 75 Features of Parcels Racks on De Luxe

pASSENGER bodies of three types will be shown here, two being 26seater de luxe coaches and the other a 22-seater -service-type bus. For the

former the Gilford and Man delay Meteor chassis respectively are being used, whilst the bus body will be mounted on a Karrier Chaser chassis. Although the design of the two coaches is different, certain of the interior fit tings are the same. The Maudslay coach has full-length parcels racks, embossed on the underside and inset with an oval light to each panel, but in the Gifford coach full-length parcels racks run along, each side, being covered on the top with plush and on the underside with a_ fancy cloth, harmonizing with the upholstery

RANSOMES Stand 27 Well-built Single and Double-deck

IN addition to its trolley-bus chassis, • this company will display examples of its passenger bodywork, a double-deck body being mounted on a Thornycroft forward-control chassis and a singledeck body on a Maudslay Meteor chassis. The former is a 50-seater, with outside panelling in aluminium, except at the corners where steel is used. There are six half-dnop„lig,hts in both saloons, all being controlled by Peters fittings, and continuous eave ventilators are carried over the windows in the lower saloon and above the drop windows in the upper saloon. Ashanco de

vices are carried in the roof. The upper deck seats 30 people and the lower saloon 20 persons. The equipment includes 17 interior lamps, clCek and mirrors in the front bulkhead of the lower saloon, whilst signalling is by means of the Pronto system.

R.EAL. St.snd 48 A Luton-type Van and a Small Coach

A S a builder of both passenger and lg,00ds bodies, this concern will exhibit an example of its products in each branch. A large-capacity Luton-type body will be mounted on an example -of the Dennis 2-ton forward-control chassis. This body is of unusual size, and a special feature is the use of a 19-ft. length of waterproof plywood', as well as shaped side pillars with extended skirting at the sides to conceal tool lockers, etc. The loading level is low.

The passenger body will be a 20seater, Built for coach service, and it will be shown to good purpose ona Guy ONDL chassis. It incorporates in its design a Triurnf-ed sliding head. ROBSON Stand 71 A Patent Collapsable Roof in a Showroom Body

As a specialist in the production of boxva_n bodies, this company will display three such specimens, in addition• to a traveller's showroom body. Two of the boxvan models will be minted on 30-cwt. chassis, one an Albion and the other a.“-Dennis. The former will be an aluminiuni-panelled body with double doors at the rear and a partition and sliding door behind the driver's seat, whilst a feature of the latter i1 a clerestory roof and a roller shutter at the back; this body will be equipped with detachable shelves. In this case, the panels will he of aluminium-faced Plymax.

The other boxvan body is built for heavier duty and will be shown on an A.E.C. Monarch 4-ton forward-control chassis. This body has been built for carrying bacon, and is equipped with hooks on which the sides are hung.

The traveller's showroom body incorporates the Robson patent collapsable roof. When on the road with the roof

SCAMMELL AND NEPHEW Stand 9/ Innovations in Goods and Passengercarrying Bodies

CERTAIN features which are innovations in commercial bodywork will be found in the exhibits of this concern, which will have on view a 28-seater coach body mounted ore a T.S.M. chassis, a neat van body carried by a Dennis 2-ton forward-control chassis, a solid-top body superimposed on a Cornmer 4-ton chassis, the exhibit being completed by a brewer's-type body mounted on an A.E.C. Majestic chassis.

The passenger model is a 28-seater, and a feature is the sliding door in the centre on the near side, a position in which it is claimed to give the greatest freedom for passengers' movements. Another unusual point is the luggage container built in to the roof ; it affords a space of 7 ft. by 4 ft. 6 ins. and is covered by a watertight lid.

The body of the 2-ton van has been built to the order of the Gas Light and Coke Co. The body is of Luton shape, the tilt being of aluminium and the sides panelled in aluminium Plymax. The interior is equipped with light metal shelves. There is an entrance to the body on the front near side, and this is covered with a roller shutter, as also is the rear above the tailboard.

The third body has been built to meet the requirements of the provision trade. It is equipped with bacon rails and has a zinc-lined interior ; roller shutters are adopted at the rear.

A Double-decker Built of Duralumin and Aluminium

LYMPIA will house a number of l.fShort Brothers body products, but the two to be displayed on the company's own stand are a 49-seater light

weight double-saloon bus, in which a Morris-Commercial chassis is used, and an all-weather touring coach, having the Dennis Arrow chassis as its basis.

The former has main frame members of duralumin and in order to facilitate maintenance the exterior panels, which are of aluminium sheet, are screwed to wood backing pieces fixed to the faces of the box-sectioned pillars. The upper saloon roof is of the company's patent design, having the roof sticks on the outside. Of the total complement of passengers, 21 are seated in the lower saloon.

In the cash of the coach, provision is made for seating 32 people, and all side windows, except the rear quarter lights, have Young's balanced window gear. There are two fall-in ventilators in the front bulkhead, two scoop ventilators in the rear dome and a Flettner device in the roof portion of the luggage compartment at the rear. The body is equipped with a •Walman hand-operated sliding head. Continuous metal parcels racks are fitted along each side and, in addition, a box is built on to the rear end of the roof, being made to follow the symmetry of the roof ; it is enclosed on top and access to it is gained from the interior.—Short Brothers (Rochester and Bedford), Ltd., Seaplane Works, Rochester.

SPENBOROUGH Stand 94 Strong Steel Bodies with Spenborough Tipping Gear

STRONG bodies for tipping and similar rough usage will be featured on this stand. A Spenborough 5-ton trailer will be shown with a three-way tipping body made of steel. This is a body specially designed for sand and gravel work.

On a Chevrolet 30-cwt. chassis will be seen another three-way tipper with Spenborough patent gear. This gear has been entirely redesigned and is now assembled on a sub-frame, permitting the body and gear, as a unit, to be attached to the chassis frame by six bolts.

A Guy 2i-ton chassis with all-steel tipping body and telescopic tipping gear will also be shown. In this ease the body is constructed of -Prin. steel plates, riveted together and reinforced with stout angle irons. SPURLING Stand 99 Goods Bodywork on Chevrolet and Bedford Chassis

O/NT this occasion the Spurling stand is being devoted entirely to a display of the company's goods-carrying bodywork. Three Chevrolet 30-ewt. chassis will be shown, equipped with different types of body. One will have a special end-tipping drop-side lprry body with telescopic tipping gear.

The second Chevrolet has a boarded tilt-van body, metal-panelled up to twothirds of its overall height, so that the tilt itself, which extends over the cab, is quite shallow. The third Chevrolet has an orthodox market-gardener's body.

The fourth exhibit is a Bedford longwheelbase chassis, equipped with a strong drop-side lorry body. All the vehicles have enclosed cabs.—Spurling Motors, The Hyde, London, N.W.9. D60 Many Good Features in a Prominent Company's Designs

pHERE will be a good representation of Strachans bodywork in the Show, for the company will display not only four examples on its own stand, but specimens will be on view on the Gilford, Thornycroft, T.S. Motors and International stands.

The Dennis Arrow chassis has been chosen to carry a front-entrance salooncoach body specifically designed for longdistance travel. The vehicle provides accommodation for 32 people, and all the seats have head, arm and foot rests, silk rug-ropes and ash trays. A futuristic pattern of moquette and leather is used for upholstery. There is a special built-in roof luggage compartment, baying an illuminated glass sign on each side. The pillars, waist and bumper moulds, etc., are capped in stainless steel, gold leather filling being used for the waist mouldings. '

Built-in luggage lofts are fitted inside.

An example of the company's doubledeck body will be shown on the new Thornycroft DD chassis. The body seats 24 people in the lower deck and 27

in the upper saloon. Strachans halfdrop windows are used in each deck.

The company has had much experience in building taxicab bodies, and a landaulet body of this type will be shown mounted on an Austin Twelve chassis. It is a four-five-seater.

The horsebox to be shown is built to the Hammond patent design, and will be seen on a Commer chassis having a low loading line, It is built to take, two horses and has a semi) at the front on the off side. HERBERT E. TAYLOR Stand 55 A Many-purpose Vehicle for Farmer's

EATON is the name under which this company's bodywork is sold and it will be shown on four different makes of chassis on the concern's own stand. One vehicle will he a Reo 26-seater allweather coach, another a Gilford 30seater de luxe Sunsaloon, a° third a Bristol 32-seater service-type bus, and, lastly, a Studebaker 2-ton low-loading lorry built for farmer's use. The passenger bodies are typioally modern products and embody the latest equipment.

The body of the farmer's lorry has an oak floor which is cambered to eliminate the wheel-arches. The sides are built in two portions, both of which are detachable. The tailboard fotms a loading ramp when lowered and has side wings for protection when loading cattle. A separate tailboard is used when the vehicle is dealing with goods.—Herbert E. THOMPSON BROS. Stand 42 Lightweight Tank Bodies of Up-to-date Design

LIGHTWEIGHT elliptical tanks built by this company are widely used in the commercial-vehicle industry, and examples will be shown on a Leyland chassis and a Commer 30-cwt. type. The former is a triple-compart

ment specimen having a total capacity of 1,500 gallons. The other vehicle has a single compartment and holds 500 gallons. Both types have a low centre of gravity, and each has the tank body mounted on detachable steel bearers braced with steel tubes. VINCENTS Stand 45 A New Two-horse Box and Two

FOR drawing attention to the New Favourite two-horse box, which this company produces, a Bedford chassis is being employed. This company has had considerable experience in meeting the requirements of those concerned with the transport of horses. The model to be shown will have a de luxe finish and sells at the price of £435. The horses are loaded and unloaded by way of a sprung side ramp, having deep wings, and provision is made at the rear for the accommodation of grooms, in addition to which two passengers can be carried alongside the driver.

The company is also to display two taxicab bodies mounted on Austin Twelve chassis.—Vincents of Reading, Station Square, Reading.

WAVENEY Stand 95 20-seaters of Two Different Types

draw attention to the features of Waveney coachwork, one being a Bedford 20-seater bus and the other a Commer 20-seater Sunsaloon coach. The former has a folding door on the near side at the front and is equipped with nickel-plated operating gear, whilst the emergency exit at the rear has a three-point lock. . The body is glazed throughout with Lancegaye safety glass. The seats have sprung steel backs, carrying grab handles and ash trays. The seats in the other passenger vehicle are of the fixed type and are built up on spring foundations. WEYMANN Stand 73 The Company's Patent Principle Adopted for a Luxury Vomit ' long-distance luxury coach body

to be shown by the Weymann concern on a Maudslay ItIL6 chassis is built to seat 26 people. It is designed on the company's patent principle and embodies all the latest ideas making for the comfort of passengers when undertaking long journeys. The seats are upholstered in moquette and afford ample leg-roam. The entrance is at the front on the near side, an emergency exit being provided on the off side. The general interior colour scheme is pleasing and is carried out in a two-colour combination, whilst the roof is lined with washable fabric, which is both attractive and hygienic. Ten drop windows attend to ventilation, the lights being controlled by Young balancers. Extra ventilation is afforded by means of roof and bulkhead devices. The Clayton .Dewandre system is adopted for heating.

A second exhibit will consist of a double-deck body, built to seat 48 people and mounted on a Daimler CH6 chassis. The entrance at the rear is totally enclosed, as is the staircase. WILLOWBROOK STAND 112 Novel Ideas in a Long-distance Coach

AN important Scottish corporation has purchased the 50-seater doubledecker which will be shown on this company's stand, the basis of it being a Daimler Fluid Flywheel chassis. Both decks are of the saloon type, the centre panels being of polished bird's-eye maple and the lamp panels covered in figured

Fabrikoid, carrying rectangular chromium-plated floodlights. A coach body will be mounted on a lford forward-control chassis; it is builtho seat 26 people, and is mainly intended for touring or long-distance

work. The luggage problem is effectively handled by American-type parcels racks, which are built into the cornices for the entire length of the interior, the Fabrikoid-finished undersides serving as lamp panels, In addition, there are portmanteau racks built in tiers under a false floor, which accommodates and entirely conceals the folds of the chain-operated Sunsaloon sliding head.

A Trainer's Ideas in a Horsebox AHORSEBOX body, specially designed in co-operation with a wellknown trainer, will be one of the two exhibits on this stand. Special attention has been given to the distribution of weight. The horses face in the forward direction; provision is made for automatically controlling the temperature of the interior. This box is being mounted on a Reo chassis with a 17-ft. 6-in, wheelbase, thus .affording an ample body length.
