Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MEM fact that only one model of the

Yorkshire range of products is found on their stand at Olympia in noway diminishes the interest of commercial vehicle users in the products of this famous concern. The type on view is the 6-tonner with chain transmission.

Mounted across the frame is the double-ended loco-type boiler fitted with a super-beater and having a heating surface of 70 sq. ft. The engine is of the vertical two-cylinder compound type, balanced and fitted with an intersecting valve for double-high-pressure work. All working parts are enclosed, and lubrication is by splash with a mechanical lubricator for the cylinders. In addition to this, an emergency oiling system is provided. Three gear ratios are fitted, 5.9, 9.5 and 19 to 1, thus enabling the engine to operate under the most adverse conditions with ease when loaded to capacity.

The 2-in Coventry chain transmits the power to the heat-treated steel rear axle, which incorporates a totally enclosed differential.

Steering is on the Ackerman principle, and the front wheels run on plain bearings, as do those at the rear ; two brakes are provided, one on the rear wheels and one on the countershaft; the reverse, of course, can be used as an emergency brake if necessary.

Built of hardwood, lined with sheetsteel, is the tipping body, which is painted red. The tipping gear is of the Bromilow and Edwards type operated hydraulically ; the driver's cab is painted white and rain-diverting slats are fixed to the outside of the roof; the seats for both driver and mate are padded, and are located just in front of the engine.

Steering is by a wheel on the righthand side, and the side lamps are mounted in line with the centre of the boiler.

Useful items of equipment for haulage work are the massive towing shackles provided to enable the vehicle either to tow another or to be assisted in cases of ditching and so forth.
